On Monday the 19th of August 2013 NZ made marriage equality history. This day marked the first time that same sex couples could be legally married. Watching the famous ‘big gay rainbow‘ speech in Parliament of the Hon. Maurice Williamson reinforced that NZ was making the right choice.
To remind you of his wise words “All we are doing with this bill is allowing two people who love each other to have that love recognised by way of marriage”
I had the great privilege of being able to tell the story of Paul and Trent’s historic day by crafting a wedding video that hopefully goes a small way to sharing how special it was for them.
The thing that struck me most about Paul & Trent was their overwhelming gratitude to people that were helping on the day. They were the perfect couple to mark this milestone in Wellington. Paul & Trent have been together for 11 years and until this day have not been allowed to get married. Their love was genuine and we wanted to reflect that in the wedding video.
A select group of Wellington’s finest and most creative wedding vendors were called upon to make the day special and the Wellington weather didn’t disappoint with a stunning blue sky day. As you’ll often hear a local say “You can’t beat Wellington on a good day” and this was certainly one of those days.
